I have a lot to say about a lot of people here in Washington, DC! So that you can keep the regular recurring characters straight, I have created this guide to characters. I may make additions to this page from time to time as the blog grows, so check back to see where my adventures have taken me.
Andrew Posch (aka DJ Swank). The King of Synth! Part of the DJ duo behind MetaPop! A friend and member of my personal nightlife crowd, which I call the G8.
Bill Spieler. The managing owner of DC9 and The Red and the Black, two cool little music venues in Washington. Often spins Liberation Dance Party Fridays at DC9 himself.
Brian Goldenberg. Fine distributor of absinthe and the doorman at Liberation Dance Party. An associate of the personal nightlife crowd I like to call the G8.
Chris Diamond. Part of the DJ duo behind Room 429. Significant other to my pal Kim Bloom.
Fiona Catchpole. Blonde fashionista and significant other to my pal Andrew Posch.
Ivy Catchpole. Apple computer genius, arty photographer, and older sister to Fiona.
Jeremy Bailey. Best drinking pal and all around sports nut. A member of my personal nightlife crowd, the G8.
Kim Bloom. Sign of the bull! Blonde as Debbie Harry and a dance floor diva. A member of my personal nightlife crowd, the G8.
Lily Matini. Champion swing dancer, intellectual property lawyer, and the most amazing woman I’ve ever met.
Mark Zimin. DJ of the monthly Mousetrap party at the Black Cat, delivering Britpop and from the ’70s to today (from Bowie to the Kaiser Chiefs).
Matt Condon (aka DJ Arcane). Part of the DJ duo behind MetaPop! A member of my personal nightlife crowd, which I call the G8.
Michael Darpino. Part of the DJ duo behind Room 429 and a fine afficionado of punk and New Wave music.
Michael “m” Foster. Organizer of a meetup called 80s in DC and 80sInDC.com. m constantly gathers people at 80s Dance Party, 80s cover band tributes, and touring acts of the 80s as they pass through town.
Neal Keller (aka DJ Neal). A long-time fixture at Club Heaven. He spins the 80s Dance Party night every Thursday.
Patrick Melody. Old school New Wave man about town. A member of my personal nighlife crowd, the G8.
Shannon Stewart (aka DJ Shannon, Crossbones DJ). A regular DJ at Liberation Dance Party, Friday nights at DC9.
Steve EP. DJ of semi-regular Black Cat parties such as ’80s Mayhem, The Depeche Mode Party, Cryfest (Cure versus The Smiths), and Duran Duran versus New Order. If you see a theme, Steve EP loves ’80s music.
Svetlana Legetic. Founder and publisher of hipster haven BrightestYoungThings.com. Her site provides some good event information, but I generally find it annoying.
Troy Carbraugh. Old school New Wave man about town. A member of my personal nighlife crowd, the G8.
Will Eastman. DJ of the monthly Bliss party at the Black Cat as well as DJ about town, and sometimes about the country. Well recognized as one of DC’s finest for good reason.
This list will continue to grow as I blog more about the town.
